Skills
A skill is a saved playbook: how your team does a job. Everyone's AI finds it and always gets the latest version.
What a skill is#
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file: the steps, rules and examples for one job. It can also hold scripts, references and other files.
Your library holds Homla's built-in skills plus your team's own. Your AI reaches all of them through the Homla connection, so there is nothing to install for that.
Save a skill#
After a job goes well, say this in Claude, Codex or any connected AI:
Save this as a skill.Your AI writes the skill and saves it to the team library. You can name the folder, like sales/follow-up. If it lands at the root, ask your AI to move it into a folder.
Saving again under the same name adds a new version. The old one is kept.
The dashboard does not create skills. Skills are saved from your AI, or from the CLI with wedge skills push.
Find and use skills#
Ask your AI to use one, by name or by job: Use our refund reply skill. Your AI searches the library itself.
In the dashboard, open Skills:
- Library lists every skill you can see. Filter by source (Homla, Your team, Yours), folder or tag. Press / to search.
- Click a skill to read its files, or Download .zip.
- Packs are ready-made bundles of skills. Installing one copies it into your workspace and never overwrites what you have.
Versions and restore#
Every save is a numbered version, with who saved it and when. Nothing is ever deleted.
- Open the historyIn Skills, open the skill and its history.
- RestorePick a version and press Restore. It is added back as the newest version, so you can undo a restore the same way.
Any member can restore a team skill. Built-in skills cannot be restored, moved or deleted. You can save a copy of one into your team library and change that.
Two people editing at once#
If someone saved a newer version while you were editing, your save stops and nothing is written. Your AI can merge both edits. If the same lines changed, it asks which to keep.
Who sees which folder#
By default, everyone in the workspace sees every folder. Admins can lock a folder to some roles:
- Open folder accessIn Skills, press Folder access. It shows Who sees each folder.
- ChooseEveryone, or Only some roles and tick them. With no role picked, only admins see the folder.
- A lock applies to every folder inside it.
- A locked folder inside another locked folder needs access to both.
- Admins always see everything.
- To someone without access, a hidden skill looks like it does not exist.
Use skills in Claude Code and Codex#
Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can also load skills from files on your computer. The Homla CLI keeps those files in step with your library.
wedge skills list # browse the library
wedge skills install sales/follow-up # install one
wedge skills sync # see what is new or changed
wedge skills sync --confirm # install the safe updatesSkills go to ~/.wedge/skills/ and are linked into ~/.claude/skills, ~/.codex/skills and ~/.cursor/skills. Add --target claude, codex or cursor to install for one app only.
sync --confirm never overwrites a skill you edited on your computer. To share your edit as a new version:
wedge skills push sales/follow-up --confirm
wedge skills history sales/follow-up
wedge skills restore sales/follow-up --version 3 --confirmIf someone published a newer version since you installed, push refuses and changes nothing. Run sync, merge by hand, then push again.
The Home page also has Your team's skills, in Claude Code: a one-line npx skills add command. Ask your AI for the link. It expires in five minutes.
Limits#
- A whole skill folder uploaded at once can be up to 8 MB.
- Folders can nest. The folder is part of the skill's name.
