Connect it#
In Homla, open Connectors, then Linear. The Setup guide button walks you through the same steps, with fields to paste into.
Who can do it. A Linear admin, or any member once an admin has allowed member API keys. The key acts as the member who creates it, with that member's team access.
Recommended. Invite a dedicated member such as [email protected], add it to the teams Homla should work in, sign in as it and create the key there. Every issue and comment Homla makes then shows under that name, and you can cut it off without touching anyone's access. A member is a paid seat on paid plans; a guest only sees the teams it is invited to.
- Allow member API keys (admins only, if needed)Only needed if the key will be created by a non-admin member such as wedge-bot. On the API page of the workspace administration, turn on Member API keys. Admins can always create keys. Open it.
- Invite the wedge-bot memberClick Invite, enter [email protected] with the Member role, then add it to each team Homla should read or write in. Open it.
- Open Security & access as wedge-botSigned in as wedge-bot, open your account settings, Security & access, then Personal API keys > New API key. Name it "Homla". Open it.
- Pick the permissions and teamsGive the key only what the tools you use need (list below). Read covers every read tool and plain queries through linear_graphql. Add Create issues for linear_issue_create and Create comments for linear_comment_create. Write is needed for linear_issue_update, linear_issue_delete and mutations through linear_graphql. Leave Admin off. Under team access, pick only the teams Homla should see. For read-only use, tick Read alone: the write tools then return Linear's permission error.
- Create and copy the keyClick Create, then copy the key. It starts with lin_api_.
Linear shows the full key only once. Paste it straight into Homla; if you lose it, delete it and create a new one.
- Paste it into HomlaIn Homla, open Connectors > Linear > Connect, paste the key into Linear personal API key, then Save. Open it.
What your AI can do#
These are the actions Homla gives your AI. Your role decides which ones you get. Write actions are a dry run until confirmed, see Approvals and dry runs.
Read#
Looks things up, never changes anything.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
linear_issues_list | List issues, newest-updated first. |
linear_issue_get | Fetch one issue: description, comments (newest first), sub-issues, attachments, subscribers. |
linear_file_download | Download one uploads.linear.app file by URL (issue_get files, any body): images shown, docx/pdf/xlsx/pptx/text read as text. |
linear_issues_search | Full-text search over issue titles and descriptions. |
linear_teams_list | List teams. |
linear_users_list | List members. |
linear_states_list | List workflow states. |
linear_projects_list | List projects with state, lead, dates and progress. |
linear_labels_list | List issue labels. |
linear_cycles_list | List sprint cycles with their dates and progress. |
Write#
Creates or changes things, as the account owner.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
linear_issue_create | Create an issue. |
linear_issue_update | Update an issue: state, assignee, title, labels, priority, estimate, due date. |
linear_issue_delete Deletes | Move an issue to the trash (recoverable in Linear for ~30 days). |
linear_comment_create | Post a markdown comment on an issue ('ENG-42'). |
linear_graphql | Run an arbitrary Linear GraphQL document, for anything the dedicated tools do not cover. |
Disconnect it#
In Homla, open the account menu on the tool's page and choose Disconnect. Anyone it was shared with loses access at once. To cut it off on the tool's side too:
To cut Homla off at once, delete the "Homla" key under Personal API keys (signed in as wedge-bot), or suspend the wedge-bot member. Admins also see and revoke every workspace key on the API administration page. To rotate, create a new key, paste it into the same Homla form, then delete the old one.
Generated from the product code. Action names are what the CLI and the API use.
